I just did a design for writer, Ed Brisson's (@edbrisson) business card. His books are typically Noir in nature. He asked me to take that into consideration. So I envisioned a private eye and got to work. Very shortly in I realized I couldn't resist drawing Sean Murphy's version of John Constantine haha so here he is, Hellblazer's, Sean Murphy's John Constantine. OOPS!
I have a mental block about drawing guns, so i really appreciate when I see one done well. Makes me think maybe, one day, possibly I could pull it off. Until then, I'll probably just draw yours over and over until it makes sense to me.
This is a really great spin on what Sean did with Constantine. His is easily my favourite rendition of the character, and I think you did it (and the character in general) some great justice in a really unique way. Really digging the entire image - awesome stuff!
Hey thanks so much. This was actually for a business card design I made for letterer/writer Ed Brisson. He writes a lot of crime noir type stuff so I was trying to really get that feel for him and all I could think of was Sean's Constantine for some reason haha. So eventually I couldn't deny it. I was just drawing Constantine haha. Glad you dig. Thanks again.
I love the line work in this piece. Something about reminds me a lot of Max Bardin's Peter Pank, but that could just be me. The flatness of the jacket and tie really set off the face nicely.
He's a Spanish comic book artist. I don't think he's doing too much now, but he was pretty active in the 80s. I mostly know him from his Peter Pank series, which was pretty out there.
